An acoustic system for tracing plastic and metal water pipes and pinpointing leaks. A pulsed water transmitter connected to a hydrant, meter or tap sends a traceable pressure pulse down the pipe, and the ground microphone with a 7-inch touch-screen control unit picks it up to follow the pipe and locate leaks up to about 5 m deep.
